Espace San Bernardo ski area (La Thuile-La Rosière)
La Thuile (1441 m) is a small village located in a large basin above which rises the Rutor glacier, on the cross-border road of the Little St. Bernard Pass. Its ski area, the Espace San Bernardo is one of the largest ski areas in the Aosta Valley thanks to its “skis-on” link to the La Rosière resort over the border in France, offering lots of km of runs served by 39 lift facilities.
It is thus possible to ski on two sides of the Alps, up to the 2.800 m. altitude with the new chairlifts Mont Valaisan and Moulin on the French side with a unique skipass.
The ski area can be reached from the centre of the village thanks to the Funivia DMC cableway and the Bosco Express chairlift.
This ski area offers extraordinary variety, ranging from children’s runs and play areas to slopes running through magnificent landscape for those who enjoy admiring the view as they ski, and of course the legendary Franco Berthod n°3 slope, which has hosted World Cup downhill freestyle races and has a maximum gradient of 73% .
In 2016 La Thuile hosted the Women’s Downhill and SuperG Alpine Skiing World Cup and in 2017 the Telemark World Cup for male and female.
This run, for experts only, takes you down to La Thuile after a challenging descent of almost 4 kilometres.
