Matterhorn 2015 - 150th anniversary
A great ten day-long festival to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first two ascents of the Matterhorn. On 14 July 1865, the mountain was climbed for the first time from the Swiss side, by a roped party led by Frenchman Michel Croz and Englishman Edward Whymper and, just a few days later, on 17 July, on the Italian side by mountain guide Jean-Antoine Carrel and the abbot Gorret, along the Lion Ridge.
From 10 to 19 July: mountaineering events and outdoor activities, hiking and trail walking, entertainment, music and dance, cinema and theatre, literature, tasting sessions and relaxation.
