Apple Festival at Antey and Gressan
Tastings and culture of one of the most cultivated fruit in the Aosta Valley.
Two important autumn festivals are dedicated to the most cultivated fruit in the Aosta Valley, the apple: the Apple Festival in Gressan and Melevallée in Antey-Saint-André.
Two initiatives that are held each year, respectively on the first and second Sundays in October, in an atmosphere of festivity that involves numerous participants and enthusiasts. An occasion for an encounter between culture and tradition that attempts to make locals more aware of the safeguarding of vegetable genetic resources, but also a mouthwatering opportunity to enjoy the culinary specialities prepared using different kinds of apple: from jelly, to marmalade, fruit juices, cider, cakes and tarts.
The festivities in Gressan coincide with the competition that awards the prize for best local production: a jury of experts closely examines appearance, integrity and the size of the competing apples.
In Antey, on the other hand, in the streets of the old town centre, an increasing number of exhibitors sell every kind of delicacy, exclusively prepared with apples.
