Понтбозэ

On passing a particularly steep valley road, on the right mountain slope of Valle di Champorcher, among the rocks and thriving chestnut forests, in an area where the landscape rises to 780 metres above sea level, Pontboset is a pleasant village that preserves numerous period buildings.
During medieval times it was governed by the Barons of Champorcher and during that period two bridges and a church were built.
The economy was essentially agricultural and the vast forests were used in times past to provide industries in the area with the necessary fuel.
There are plenty of Alpine farm huts, a means of support for many families.
Due to its morphological characteristics and the purity of its waters, the raging Ayasse River has over the centuries dug deep, remote gorges to create a particularly picturesque panorama and is now renowned for its brown trout fishing and high speed kayaking.
Pleasant walks depart Pontboset in the discovery of endless, natural beauty spots, such as Orrido del Ratus, the ?Marmitte dei Giganti? along the course of the Ayasse River, walks along the Six Bridges, which cross three rivers, and walks to the village of Barmelle, which can only be reached via an ancient, stone flight of steps.
More or less difficult excursions allow you to arrive to the Retempio Sanctuary and the five lakes in Vallone della Manda, as well as the Brenve high ground, which reaches 2,778 m with Monte dei Corni and 2,622 m with Monte Debat.
The Terrisse district hosts an important rock training ground.
