Bicycles and Mountain Bikes

Nothing but 2 wheels, pedals and a frame between you and nature.
Traditional or Racing Bikes
The choice for those who prefer road cycling. Our region, often a leg of the Giro d’Italia tour (one of the most important races of the international season together with the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España), is continuing the magic of Italy’s famous pink shirt by organising the traditional “Giro della Valle d’Aosta” (Aosta Valley tour). A choice of 21 routes on our inland roads provides opportunities for scenic and panoramic rides.

Mountain Bikes (MTB)
The Aosta Valley has over 1000 km of country roads an d could be renamed “Home of Mountain Biking”.
The region’s extensive network of unsurfaced tracks stems from its agriculture and livestock rearing tradition, which led to the development of roads towards urban centres and mountain pastures. Mule tracks, farm roads and wooded paths offer cyclists the chance to experience ever-changing scenery while enjoying a healthy activity that requires a little effort but is never repetitive. For those who don’t already know, there is also the option of using of one of the Region’s qualified MTB instructors who, with their knowledge of the mosaic of roads and paths available, can ensure the safety of your excursions.
Downhill
Some of the local ski resorts - such as Pila and La Thuile - keep their chairlifts and cable cars running even during the summer, making them ideal locations for downhill cycling, an extreme version of MTB practised using bikes with sturdy frames, protective gear and full face, motocross-style helmets.
