H么ne

H么ne is a quiet town located at the start of the Champorcher Valley.

Previous settlements date back to the Late Bronze and Iron Ages. Certain primitive sites, called “barme” and sheltered under the rock, confirm such traces, as well as the hollowed-out stones which become concave due to the incisions on them. Scholars believe these incisions were used to perform religious and propitiatory rites. H么ne played a strategic role in medieval times, when it was governed by the Lord of Bard.

The town hosts the nineteenth-century church of San Giorgio, a real masterpiece: it contains three gilded altars carved in wood, a carved pulpit representing the legend of St. George and a splendid choir loft which is also carved.

There are numerous itineraries leaving from H么ne that wind around the woodland and reach some panoramic areas, such as the path that concludes with a beautiful view of Pourcil, the path that leads up to Serra di Biel (1,473 m) and passes through the characteristic, Alpine villages of Biel and Courtil or the walk to the terrifyingly beautiful Torrente Ayasse.
