Beck Peccoz Museum of Fauna
At Gressoney-Saint-Jean, near Villa Margherita, the old hunting lodge of the Barons of Beck-Peccoz hosts the Regional Museum of Alpine Fauna
The exhibition covers two floors: on the ground floor are four themed show rooms, dedicated to the systematics, anatomy, morphology and biology of mountain vertebrates. The subjects covered are easy to understand thanks to the help of displays and description panels. One of these rooms is periodically dedicated to an exhibition relative to the various geographical,
historical, zoological and ethnological aspects of the alpine environment. Two thousand hunting trophies from the Beck-Peccoz collection take pride of place on the first floor alongside dioramas depicting the main species of wild fauna in the Valle d'Aosta (deer, ibex, chamois, goats, roe deer). Of particular interest is the weapons room, which exhibits large and small arms firearms, shot guns and military firearms that belonged to the Beck-Peccoz.
