Festa della Valle d’Aosta
The Valle d’Aosta Festival was set up under the 2006 regional law to promote the autonomy and distinctive characteristics of the region. The high point of the Festival is the award of two special regional honours.
The first, Amis de la Vallée d’Aoste, awards honorary citizenship of the region and membership of the Confrérie des amis de la Vallée d’Aoste. It is presented to personalities from Italy or abroad whose presence or works have enhanced the prestige of the region.
The second, Chevalier de l’Autonomie, is awarded to citizens of Valle d’Aosta who have made an outstanding contribution to sport, culture, science, the arts, economics, politics or the social field.
