La Vrille winery
The farm La Vrille (the tendril) situated along the Via Francigena at 670 m AMSL, was created in 2002 from a plan dreamt and realized from Hervé, ex sailor and great-grandchild of migrants from Aosta Valley, come back to his region with the intention of cultivating again the land of his ancestors and from Luciana, longing for a life under the sign of simplicity.
In the farm restaurant, the numerous resources (hens, sheep, geese, rabbits, a vegetable garden with greenhouses and the orchard) Luciana’s cookery is “centimetre zero” and respectful to nature; ingredients from the plot and the territory, furnished by carefully selected small local producers, are presented on the table following the season’s rythm. Home made pasta, the wise use of local aromatic herbs, that grow here wild thanks to the good terrains’ exposure (thyme is excellent), and a selection of 12 different pepper varieties coming from all over the world, make dishes particularly interesting and original.
The vineyards, disposed in a natural amphitheatre with view over Avic and Emilius mounts, are almost entirely cultivated with local grape varieties such as Vuillermin, Petit Rouge, Cornalin and Fumin, with some exceptions represented from Pinot Noir and Gamay, coming from the French region of Bourgogne.
A wide area is dedicated to Muscat Petit Grain, basis for the production of Chambave Muscat.
Cornalin, Fumin, Gamay, Chambave and Chambave Muscat.
There is no shop on the premises but the wines can be tasted and purchased during the visit.
The farm can be visited upon telephone booking (contact: Hervé Deguillaume).
The visit includes a tour of the wine cellar and, in exceptional circumstances, the vineyards and the stables.
