Gran Sertz

Ski mountaineering  -  Cogne

Day one:
From the Valnontey parking lot, cross the bridge and climb the summer path to the Sella hut. Climb the wide curves in the woods over the Lauson stream, (you have to remove your skis for this part in the spring) and reach the Toule pastures. Continue climbing on the easy slopes to the left of the stream. Once at the Lauson pasture, climb to the plateau where the Vittorio Sella hut is located.

Day two:
From the hut, head South-West over the easy slopes going around the right of the steeper ones to the Lauson glacier. Here you’ll find a very steep segment that leads to the glacier above. You can take the groove in the middle of the rocks at the end of the rocky Gran Vallon ramparts (this segment is often taken on foot). Climb the ridge of the glacier and follow the long crossing to the left until you’re under the peak. Climb the last metres up the final tower.

Descent down the upward itinerary.

Punta Rossa della Grivola

Ski mountaineering  -  Cogne

Day one:
From the Valnontey parking lot, cross the bridge and climb the summer path to the Sella hut. Climb the wide turns in the woods to cross the Lauson stream (you must remove your skis for this segment in the spring) to the Toule mountain pastures. Continue climbing on the easy slopes to the left of the stream. Once at the Lauson pasture, climb to the plateau where the Vittorio Sella hut is located.

Day two:
From the hut, continue along the valley floor towards Col Lauson, at altitude 2,950 m. Turn right and climb the steeper slopes to the Rousse glacier. In the valley above, continue on the steep slopes on the right to the Rossa hills, 3,195 m. From the hill with a long and steep slope North, head to the North-East ridge of Punta Rossa. Follow the ridge to the top.

Descent down the upward itinerary.
You can also descend directly down the beautiful valley to Cretaz.

Col Malatrà

Ski mountaineering  -  Courmayeur

Day one:
Park your car in the Planpincieux lot and take the footpath that follows the valley floor. After the hamlet of Lavachey, climb the small valley on the right until you hit the farm road. Follow the road to the sign for the Bonatti hut on the left. Continue through the larch wood heading East. You’ll reach the hut just out of the woods.

Day two:
From the hut, climb the marked valley of Malatrà and cross the wide plateau to the left. After a steeper rise, follow the valley floor which, with a final steep segment, leads to the hill.

Mont Dolent

Ski mountaineering  -  Courmayeur

Park your car at the end of the road in Arnouva. Follow the farm road that follows the central valley. Leaving the fork for the Elena hut on your right, continue over the valley floor and take the steep canyon that leads to Col du Petit Ferret. Turn left and cross to the Florio/Dolent camps.
Continue crossing to the glacier and climb to your left, careful of crevasses. Climb to the last steep slope, remove your skis and climb towards the ridge with crampons to the summit.

Col di Champillon

Ski mountaineering  -  Doues

From Posseille, 1,450 m, climb the fields above heading North-West to the Moffes chalet, 1,953 m, and then to the Arp di Praz chalet, 2,055 m. Go around the base of the Crou di Blenche following the farm road to the Champillon valley until you reach the mountain range at altitude 2,078 m. Continue West to the Letey chalet, 2,297 m. Continue in the same direction climbing the simple route over the canyons to the hill.

Monte Paglietta

Ski mountaineering  -  Étroubles

From Prailles, 1,555 m, follow the farm road for several metres and turn left as soon as possible to climb the wide fields above. Cross the various Bezet pastures to the base of the woods. Head North and keep to the small wooded valleys until you see the Monteret peak, 2,307 m. Turn slightly right to the ridge, free of vegetation. Follow the marked route on the ridge to the top.

Col Gragliasca

Ski mountaineering  -  Fontainemore

Carry on along the road that winds through the valley that is just slightly sloping. After about half an hour, the road heads up a steeper stretch with some turns and crosses the river over a pretty, stone bridge.
Carry on along the road as far as the Vargno Lake then head up to the left of the pretty slopes where there are a few houses. At the end, head up through the larches to the left as far as a depression: you will find yourself in front of a small river gorge that can be passed by, both on the right and left.
Further on, on a steeper stretch, you will come to a hillock where you can find an old Alpine hut.
Flat cross the slope and head into a steep, small valley, watching out for any snow falls along the last stretch. Carry on up the valley until you come to a depression. Head to the right along pretty slopes as far as the clearly visible Gragliasca Pass (2213 m).

Chaligne

Ski mountaineering  -  Gignod

From Buthier 1,319 m, climb the fields above heading South-West to the Rolla pastures, 1,692 m and the Chaligne hut, 1,934 m, both visible from below. Climb the sparse woods over the hut and continue on the open peaks heading for the top. When the slope starts to become steep, turn left and, crossing upward, reach the col di Met, 2,485 m. Follow the wide ridge heading North to the top.

Piramide Vincent

Ski mountaineering  -  Gressoney-La-Trinité

Day one:
Taking the ski-lift upwards, you will come to Gabiet at 2350 m. Go up the slopes for about 100 m of level difference, turn left along the trail of the summer pathway and you will come to the Indren mountain pastures at 2541 m. Pass the large plain and head up the clearly visible “eagle’s channel”, that can often require the use of crampons. You will come to the ruins of the Linty refuge 3030 m and, passing by the large moraine on the left, you will come to the Città di Mantova refuge at 3498 m.

Day two:
Head up the Garstelet glacier on the right leaving the Gnifetti refuge on your left at 3647 m. You will come to the Piramide Vincent base, go round it on the left and, watching out for the numerous crevasses, you will reach a height of 4000 m. Turn right and along the easy northern slope you will come to the summit ridge and then the top.

Mont Tantané

Ski mountaineering  -  La Magdeleine

From the square at Artaz 1727 m, cross the village then head to the right along a path that leads to a ski resort. Walk alongside the slopes, then head up through a pretty meadow on the left. A steep inter-estate road starts at the end of this; follow it to the end. Carry on through the forest following a flat pathway until you cross the valley that heads down to Promiod. Head down a few metres then back up as far as the Alpe Champ Cellier where you can pick up the trail from Promiod. Carry on over vast slopes along a non-obligatory route until you pass a rocky islet on your left at 2552 m. Then head for the clearly visible pass up above and then to your left (normally on foot) on an easy ridge until you come to the peak.
