The scientific research ... on foot!
Monte Rosa has always been an interesting place for scientific research. Umberto Monterin (1887 - 1940), a famous scientist from Gressoney, made important studies in glaciology, climatology, physiology, pedology, botany and geomorphology. The Angelo Mosso institute, which is located at 2900 metres above sea level, and the springs of Torrent Lys are nowadays a favourite destination of all those who are interested in sciences.
We start from Staffal (1820 m) and we reach the springs of Torrent Lys (2410 m) before walking up to Corno del Camoscio (3024 m).
