Monte Rosa Group – POLLUCE
It rises on the main crest between the Porta Nera and the Verra Col.
It is a pyramid with a dome-shaped top, rocky at the South and covered with snow on the other sides.
It’s a relatively little frequented “4,000”, compared to the bordering twin mountain Castore, although from its top there are interesting panoramic views over ice walls, in particular towards Castore and Lyskamm. Polluce and Castore are also referred to as Zwillinge (twins), especially on the Swiss side, and Zwillingsjoch is called the pass that separates them (Col Verra).
