Ancient home in the village of Dolonne
The lower part of the architrave is shaped like a lancet. The Savoy coat of arms is on the left with that of the Favre family “A silver cross on a red background with a trefly top and fitchy bottom” on the right. The date 1610 is engraved under the Favre coat of arms, The cross of Malta and the French Fleur-de-lis, a monogram of Christ and other figures also appear. The house does not preserve other ancient traits since it was subject to many transformations.
The noble Favre family was originally of Vallese. The first member of noble birth appeared in Aosta in 1413. The most prominent was Roz or Rudolph, born in 1533, ambassador of the Duchy of Aosta and Duke of Savoy, knight commander of Aosta. He died in 1610 (the same date engraved on the architrave).
