Leave the car in Valnontey, in the municipality of Cogne, and cross the bridge over the stream and climb up the vast plateau, where the Paradisia botanical gardens are situated. On the left, take the path for the Sella refuge which, after a short flat section, goes into the conifer woods and winds gently upwards. Crossing the stream over to the left takes you to vast pastures which rise then descend again gently, to cross back over the stream. The trail now goes up in long diagonal tracks to reach the basin where the Sella refuge stands along with the park guard’s lodge.
