The Breithorn Chain is located on the borderline between Italy and Switzerland. Three are three peaks that exceed the 4,000 meters. The West Breithorn peak, 4,061 m, due to its easy access (cableway of the Piccolo Cervino from Zermatt and cableway of the Plateau from Cervinia) is one of the most frequented destination. The central Breithorn, with its 4,160 meters, can be reached through a small snowy crest from the narrow mountain pass that separates it from its twin brother. The East Breithorn, 4,141 meters, is less frequented than the previous ones, since it presents some more difficulties. The climb to these peaks can be done starting from Cervinia by using the cableways or ski lifts up to Plateau Rosa or starting from the very modern Val d’Ayas Guides mountain hut, which can be reached on foot from St. Jacques or through a shuttle service up to Pian di Verra.
