Le Calcografie - Maria Luisa Zampogna
Kontakt
Maria Luisa Zampogna presents her works created using calcography, an ancient printing technique from the 15th century. This technique transforms simple materials like metal plates, acids, and powders into works of art of great expressive and poetic value. Her creations demonstrate the power and magic of a timeless art.
Maria Luisa Zampogna, a graduate of the Turin Art Institute and an art education teacher, has a rich and varied artistic journey. Starting with graphic design, she evolved through watercolor, oil painting, and clay sculpture, finding great satisfaction in giving three-dimensional form to thoughts and objects.
Her encounter with Maestro Preverino at the Accademia Albertina marked a turning point in her way of observing nature. However, the true discovery was engraving and calcographic printing, explored at the Scuola Libera del Nudo under the guidance of Prof. Ermanno Barovero. Here, she discovered the expressive possibilities offered by zinc plates, waxes, acids, and varnishes.
Maria Luisa loves engraving for its complexity, for that unique blend of technique, dedication, creativity, and the ability to surprise. She knows that rigorous application of the technique does not always guarantee predictable results; tenacity and determination lead to desired outcomes or the discovery of new, unexpected solutions.
The choice to exhibit in La Magdeleine stems from her deep emotional connection to this enchanting mountain village, which has been a peaceful refuge for her and her family for over half a century.
