The aroma of rye, the crisp mountain air, and the sweetness of tradition come together in Chamois for the most delicious winter event.
On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the charming car-free village of the Aosta Valley invites residents, visitors, and baking enthusiasts to take part in the “Best Mountain Cake” contest, dedicated this year to the theme: “The Mountain Cake – with a touch of rye.”
Who can participate:
Everyone is welcome. Simply fill out the registration form and bring a freshly made cake that includes rye, even in small amounts, among the ingredients.
Cake delivery:
On the day of the event, before 2:00 p.m., at Bar Chamois.
The award ceremony will take place at 5:00 p.m., followed by a public tasting.

A jury made up of locals, visitors, and members of the association “Le Four des Amis” will evaluate taste, presentation, technique, and use of rye.
