Edward Burtynsky. L’uomo e la terra - Photographic exhibition
The Saint-Bénin Centre is dedicating an exhibit to internationally acclaimed Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky whose works hang in some of the world’s most prestigious museums including the National Gallery of Canada, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art and Guggenheim Museum in New York.
This exhibit is curated by Enrica Viganò and Daria Jorioz and presents 30 large-format coloured photographs that capture some of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes (United States, Bangladesh, Italy, China, Australia and Portugal) – photographed with a sophisticated technique which lends an extraordinarily pictorial effect to the images.
The renowned photographer has the rare gift of knowing how to clearly define the extremely delicate and essential relationship between humans and their earth, composing images of outstanding aesthetic quality. By distancing himself from an openly militant attitude, Burtynsky’s photography never proposes preconceived theories. It suggests a new way to look at things instead which inspires us to consider how ambivalent the relationship between humans and their environment actually is.
