Loop itinerary - The wild Arpisson valley
Localidad: Cogne
Time and meeting place: 9 a.m. Gimillan, Cogne
Detailed itinerary: the itinerary starts in Gimillan (1788 metres above sea level) which is the highest hamlet in Cogne. The route is characterized in its lower part by larch, spruce and pine forests, while in its upper part by wide clearings right near the mountain pasture of Arpisson. Your sight will be immediately captured by the glaciers and peaks of Gran Paradiso, that will reveal themselves to your eyes in all their beauty. Nature, ancient heritage of rural alpine life will be the leitmotif of the hike and of the ascent to the Nebbia Bivouac. The decent will be along the same path till to the Arpisson pasture. From there you will follow another path that will close the circular itinerary, in the lower part of the hike.
The Arpisson valley is undoubtedly one of the wildest sites of the entire Cogne valley. Even in the high season it is very rare to meet hikers. This feature together with the experience of nature and simple solitude makes the charm of the entire territory even greater. The itinerary will cross forests, alpine meadows and typical mountain pastures. You will come to the end of the excursion finally reaching the Nebbia Bibouac, where you will admire some glimpses of rural life in front of the Gran Paradiso.

Equipment and recommended clothing: trekking boots, layered clothing, wind-proof jacket, rucksack, water, sunglasses, cap, packet-lunch
