On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of activity of the Bard Fort, the three-year project, Masterpieces at the Fort begins which will see a great masterpiece of Italian art alternate every year, until 2028, inside the former military chapel. The project was born from the desire to enhance unique works, which tell not only the genius of Italian masters but also exceptional stories and iconography.
The first masterpiece bears the signature of Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, and is one of his last works: Saint John the Baptist. An intense work that tells of the artist's maturity but above all the emotional pathos that distinguishes him. An unprecedented representation of Saint John which was supposed to represent his redemption and which instead accompanied him on his final journey towards his premature death.
The cultural project is promoted with the collaboration of MondoMostre and the Borghese Gallery in Rome.
