We are in 1997 and Caterino is a worker. When the company leaders decide to make him a spy, Caterino takes part in the strikes to denounce them. When he asks to be transferred to Palazzina Laf, Caterino will discover that what he believed to be a paradise is actually a strategy to psychologically test the workers to the point of forcing them to resign. 

The film tells the true facts about the Palazzina Laf, an acronym for "Cold Rolling Mill" and department of the ILVA steelworks in Taranto, where employees who opposed the downgrading were mobbed.
