“Gène e gli altri” is a short novel that traces the last months of life of the young Eugène Lucianaz, “boy of ’99” originally from Charvensod, a small town in the Valle d’Aosta, which fell on Mount Solarolo on 13 December 1917, during the arrest battle following the Caporetto route. In particular, the work retraces the steps of his “journey towards the Void” from the military visit, to the call to arms in the Aosta Battalion, to the sending to the front on the Pasubio, to the transfer to the Val Camonica Alpine Battalion on Monte Grappa, to death in the course of his first real war action at an altitude of 1601 of the left Colletto of the Solarolo.
