Descripción del recorrido
The itinerary starts in the centre of Cogne and crosses the beautiful Sant’Orso Meadows, known as an “Italian Wonder”, a wide green expanse framed by the majestic peaks of the Gran Paradiso range. After crossing the bridge, you reach the hamlet of Buthier, an ideal spot for a short break thanks to the presence of a bar.
From here, the trail continues along the left bank of the Valnontey stream. After about 15 minutes on a rural track, the route follows a narrower path climbing up to an altitude of 1,750 metres, near the traditional Baben mountain huts. The return journey then descends towards Valnontey.
The first section, from Cogne to Buthier, is family-friendly: suitable for strollers, accessible to people with disabilities, and open to bicycles only at walking pace.
