Turin, Milan or Geneva: the closest airports and transfer services to and from the Aosta Valley

In the winter period, bus transfer services are activated from/to Turin Caselle and from/to Milan Malpensa airports, in addition to scheduled public transport.
While private transfers are direct, with public transport it is necessary to change buses in Pont-Saint-Martin to reach the Gressoney valley, in Châtillon for the Matterhorn valley (Valtournenche, Breuil-Cervinia), in Verrès for the Val d' Ayas (Champoluc), to Aosta to reach Courmayeur (to Aosta and then to Pré-Saint-Didier to reach La Thuile).
Aosta Airport
At the Corrado Gex airport in Aosta several companies offer an air taxi service on request.
The airport is located in Saint-Christophe, about 3 km far from Aosta city, and, in addition to being the base for mountain rescue helicopters, it is famous for glider flying, thanks to the activity of the local aeroclub.

Turin Caselle Airport
Turin airport is 115 km from Aosta.
If you decide to rent a car, reaching Aosta will not be difficult: just follow the signs for the Turin ring roads (Corso Regina Margherita exit) and take the A5 motorway to Aosta, a total of a little more than an hour's drive.

Public transport:
Outside the ski season, the connection with Caselle airport is not direct and is ensured by the scheduled service, operational all year round: with the shuttle bus or train departing from Caselle airport you need to reach the city of Turin and then from Turin city centre (Porta Susa station) take the train or bus to Aosta:

Transfer Caselle - Aosta Valley
From 7th December 2024 to 20th April 2024, on Saturdays and Sundays, a shared transfer service is active from/to the Turin Caselle airport for the valley bottom locations (Pont-Saint-Martin railway station, Verrès bus station, Châtillon bus station and Aosta railway station) at a cost of €25.00 each way. A "door to door" service is also available up to the ski resorts "I'll take you to your Hotel/Resort". The service requires online payment by credit card.
The reservation is mandatory and must be made no less than 72 hours before the ride to/from Caselle on the website https://www.transfervallee.eu/shuttle/
Milan/Bergamo airports
The airports of Milan (Malpensa, Linate) and Bergamo (Orio al Serio) are respectively 180, 200 and 225 km from Aosta.
If you rent a car, reaching the Aosta Valley will be easy and quick.
- Malpensa - Upon exiting Malpensa airport, follow the signs for Novara and take the A4 motorway at the Mesero Sud station (Marcallo Mesero) towards Turin. At Santhià follow the signs for Aosta/Mont Blanc. Travel time: approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Linate - Take the A51 East ring road towards North/Lecco then take the A52 North ring road where, near Monza, take the A4 motorway towards Turin. At Santhià follow the signs for Aosta/Mont Blanc. Travel time: approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
- Orio al Serio - Take the A4 motorway at Bergamo (a few km from the airport) and follow the Turin/Mont Blanc direction. At Santhià follow the signs for Aosta/Mont Blanc. Travel time: approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Public transport:
- Malpensa - The Malpensa Express train connects Terminal 1 and 2 of Malpensa Airport approximately every half hour with the main railway stations of Milan: Milano Cadorna and Milano Centrale. From the Milano Centrale railway station there are trains to Aosta almost every hour from 6.15am to 9.15pm (train change in Chivasso) - Travel time Milan-Aosta: approximately 3.20 hours. From Cadorna station, with the red M1 metro line (direction Rho Fiera), in 7 stops you arrive at Lampugnano, from where the scheduled buses leave for Aosta.
- Malpensa - Coaches from Malpensa to Milano Centrale are operated by different companies. The Malpensa Shuttle stop in Piazzale Lotto allows you to take the red M1 metro line which in 2 stops leads to Lampugnano, from where the scheduled buses leave for Aosta.
- Linate - From Linate airport various means of public transport connect the airport with the Milano Centrale train station. From the Milano Centrale railway station there are trains to Aosta almost every hour from 6.15am to 9.15pm (train change in Chivasso) - Travel time Milan-Aosta: approximately 3.20 hours.
- Linate - From the airport with the subway you reach the San Babila station with the M4 line, from which with the red M1 line (direction Rho Fiera), in 11 stops you arrive at Lampugnano, from which the scheduled buses leave for Aosta
- Bergamo /Orio al Serio - The Flixbus company has direct coach connections from Aosta to Bergamo Orio al Serio airport and vice versa.
- Bergamo / Orio al Serio - From the airport a bus service runs every approximately 30 minutes which connects the terminal with Milano Centrale station. From the Milan Central railway station there are trains to Aosta almost every hour from 6.15am to 9.15pm (train change in Chivasso) - Travel time Milan-Aosta: approximately 3.20 hours.

Transfer Malpensa - Aosta Valley
From 8th December 2024 to 20th April 2025, a winter bus transfer service is active from the international airport of Milan Malpensa to the towns of the Aosta Valley (Pont-Saint-Martin, Verrès, Châtillon and Aosta) and vice versa. The service requires mandatory booking, no less than 24 hours before the journey to/from Malpensa, to be made directly online by connecting to the Arriva website or e-store or at the authorised ticket offices in the Aosta Valley. The fare one way is €25.00.
The stops at Malpensa Airport are: TERMINAL 1 – exit n° 5 | TERMINAL 2 – stall n° 4
Geneva Cointrin Airport
Geneva airport is approximately 140 km from Aosta. The fastest way to reach Aosta Valley by car from Geneva is to go through the Mont Blanc tunnel.
