Nata nel 1985 dal genio creativo dell’eclettico coreografo David Parsons e del lighting designer Howell Binkley, Parsons Dance è una tra le poche compagnie che, oltre ad essersi affermate sulla scena internazionale con successo sempre rinnovato, è riuscita a lasciare un segno nell’immaginario teatrale collettivo e a creare coreografie divenute veri e propri “cult” della danza mondiale. Gli show, sempre richiestissimi, sono già andati in scena nei cinque continenti, in 22 paesi e in quasi 400 città, nei più importanti teatri e festival del mondo. Caposaldo della danza post-moderna made in USA, Parsons Dance incarna alla perfezione la forza dirompente di una danza carica di energia e positività, acrobatica e comunicativa al tempo stesso. Le creazioni di Parsons portano il segno di una straordinaria teatralità e di un lavoro fisico che si trasforma in virtuosismo e leggerezza. È una danza solare, che diverte in quanto espressione di gioia, capace di trasmettere emozioni semplici e dirette, quindi estremamente accessibile al grande pubblico. Sin dagli esordi, l’elevata preparazione atletica degli interpreti e la grande capacità di David Parsons di dare anima alla tecnica sono stati gli elementi distintivi della compagnia. Le musiche spaziano da Rossini e Mozart al jazz di Phil Woods e Miles Davis; dal leggendario musicista brasiliano Milton Nascimento a Robert Fripp, chitarrista e fondatore della storica band rock progressive inglese King Crimson; dalla popolare musica della Dave Matthews Band alle celeberrime hit degli Earth, Wind & Fire. Nel nuovo programma del tour italiano 2019 non mancherà la sempre richiestissima Caught (brano del 1982 che David Parsons creò per se stesso), incredibile assolo su musiche di Robert Fripp nel quale il danzatore sembra sospeso in aria grazie a un gioco di luci stroboscopiche. Inoltre Parsons Dance avrà l’onore di presentare in Italia, in anteprima europea, Microburst, il nuovo brano che ha debuttato lo scorso maggio 2018 al Joyce Theater di New York: un’audace e brillante performance per quattro ballerini su musica classica indiana composta ed eseguita da Avirodh Sharma. Parsons Dance incarna il senso più genuino di una danza che punta dritto all’emozione e al desiderio nascosto di ogni spettatore di ballare, saltare e gioire insieme ai ballerini. Difficile non lasciarsi trasportare dai ritmi vibranti e dalle coreografie avvolgenti e colorate dei ballerini della Parsons Dance
