Joan Miró. It is when I dream that I see clearly

For the first time in Italy, an unpublished exhibition on Joan Miró, one of the greatest protagonists of art of the last century, will be presented. The exhibition itinerary outlines the figure of the artist-man, touching on the peculiarities of his person, from his ecological convictions to his commitment to the anti-fascist struggle, from the very strong need for freedom to his rebellion against all forms of tyranny up to his ability to weave arts distant as poetry, sculpture, theatre, photography.

The sections of the exhibition highlight Miró’s triple moral commitment: respect for nature, political freedom and the innovation of artistic language.

In the different sections of the exhibition itinerary we find sculptures, oils, the puppets of Mori el Merma (Death to the puppet), the subversive and festive theatrical work of 1978 but also thirteen famous artists’ books and four video interviews – created especially for this exhibition - to people who knew or worked with Miró: his nephew Joan Punyet Miró, Rosa Malet, Colita, Joan Baixas.

The works present in the rooms of the Archaeological Museum of Aosta have been kindly provided by various institutions such as the Fundació Pilar and Joan Miró de Mallorca, the Museu Es Baluard d’Art Contemporani de Palma, the Diputació d’Alacant, Harvard Art Museums de US, the family fund de Succesió Miró and by various private collectors.
