Republic Day Concert
Contact
The concert, organised by the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, the Fédération des Harmonies Valdôtaines and the National Association of those Honoured with the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, ANCRI Valle d'Aosta Section, on the occasion of Republic Day, has three very special features, in that the protagonists of the concert are young people from the bands of Valle d'Aosta; secondly, music is proposed that has accompanied the history of Italy from the time of the Risorgimento to the birth of the Republic; thirdly, music serves as a glue to bring the message of history, in this case the story of ‘Il bel paese là dove “l sì risuona”, to the new generations.
In addition to the performance of the national anthem, Il Canto degli Italiani, and that of the Aosta Valley, Montagnes valdôtaines, the programme includes an anthology of music from the Risorgimento, ranging from ‘popular songs’ to eloquent pages of opera music, while the concluding piece recalls the music of the 1940s, symbolic of Italian song. This path has, at its centre, a topical moment: the proposal of a new piece, in a world premiere performance, dedicated to the Gran Paradiso, that park which, with its history and uncontaminated beauty, seems to encapsulate the history of Our Land that, from the time of the King, leads to our Republic.
Another special feature of this concert is that the listener will not be left alone: each piece will be illustrated in its musical and historical significance by the Concertmaster, Maestro Fulvio Creux.
