Opening time and fees

The SkyClimb Mezzalama is an international race affiliated to the Italian Skyrunning Federation which takes place largely on the glaciers of Monte Rosa.

The pairs competition is open to teams of 2 athletes, even of different nationalities, who are at least 18 years old on the date of the event.

The race takes place largely in a glacial environment and therefore presents characteristics such as crevasses, ice, snow and slopes that require the use of a harness, rope and crampons compliant with European certifications.

The route is approximately 25 km with a positive difference in altitude of over 2,500 metres. The change of setup during the race, to put on a harness, put on crampons and tie up in a roped party, allows you to face the glacier with its dangers, the scene of the most technical and demanding part of the race which culminates with the ascent of Mount Castore (4,226 m).

On the same day, the Vertical Race is also held, starting from Saint-Jacques (1,670 m) and arriving at the Rifugio delle Guide di Ayas (3,400 m), on the uphill route of the main race.

In the event that weather conditions prevent the races from taking place regularly on Saturday 29 June, they may be postponed to Sunday 30 June.

The entire route is marked with flags and ribbons and manned by volunteers.
