Carnavals de montagne en Vallée d'Aoste
The Carnevale di Montagna (Mountain Carnival) involves a colourful procession and array of Carnival traditions along the city of Aosta. You can see a number of ritual Carnival characters (the most famous belonging to Coumba Freide) as well as all the historic Carnival figures, who act out events and stories from Val d’Aosta’s past like those concerning Verrès, Pont-Saint Martin, Nus and Quart. A few guest villages also take part and their lively costumes help to add further colour and richness to this great festival.
