- Departure at 10.15 am – Meet at the picnic area (parking available);
- Set off along the path (Rue), passing the Treves Foundry, then head up the toboggan run to the junction of the path leading to the San Giacomo Tunnel;
- External tour and description of the intermediate-level cableway;
- Transfer to the site’s oldest excavations and the Miners’ Shelter, external tour and description of the mining complex;
Internal tour of the 1815-level gallery and walk to the Acque Verdi; - Return at 2.30 pm – Return via the same route as the outward journey.
A unique day to celebrate one of the most fascinating mining sites in the Aosta Valley, taking you on a journey through centuries of mining, human ingenuity and stunning landscapes. To mark this occasion, the tour will feature in-depth insights into the lives of miners, copper processing techniques and the changes that have shaped the area over time.
An itinerary tracing two thousand years of mining, following the trail of copper through the mountains of Saint-Marcel. From the first tunnels dug by the Romans to the 18th-century furnaces of the Treves Foundry, the tour illustrates how human labour, technological evolution and knowledge of the material have transformed rock into metal and progress. The tour continues along the path to Acque Verdi, where the minerals colour the springs and rocks with spectacular hues.
You can round off the experience with a traditional lunch at La Chèvre Heureuse or the Locanda del Diavolo at a cost of €25 per person, excluding drinks.
Bookings are appreciated and can be made via the ticket form at the end of the purchase process. Payment for this service will be made directly on site at the end of the excursion.
Please note: the Servette mines are a disused mining site. Given their location, all events are subject to final confirmation by the organiser.
