Oyace

At 1,377 metres above sea level and already known during Roman times under the name “Agacium”, this town is located on the right mountain slope of the Buthier River.
It is dominated by a fourteenth-century, octagonal tower called the “Tornalla”, which belonged to the Lords of Quart and built on the ruins of a Saracen fort.
The square in front of the parish church of San Michele boasts a panoramic view of the valley.
Oyace is an ideal place for anyone in search of a holiday surrounded by beautiful, primitive nature. The territory is crossed by one of the most spectacular roads, the Alta Via no.1, an excursion route that leads mountaineers across the beautiful Vessona valley.
There is an interesting walk in Verdona Valley, where you will find a church in honour of “Notre Dame des Neiges”. A traditional procession takes place here on the 5th of August.
