The old bivouac, inaugurated in 1961, was replaced in 1995 and it is dedicated to the mountaineers Giorgio Rossi and Cesare Volante, who died in 1963 in Nepal. The bivouac was renovated in 2022.

The bivouac is located on a rocky spur below the north face of the Rocce Nere. It can be reached from the Mezzalama refuge by crossing the Verra glacier toward the Porta Nera pass, or from Testa Grigia (Plateau Rosa) via the Breithorn pass.

Equipment: matresses, pillows, blankets, melting water, no gas.
