The Crête Sèche refuge is dominated by the ridge of the same name, which it is called after, with its thread-like pinnacles and large ruined towers. Built in 1982 a short distance from the Berio del Governo, which was a guard post during the French Revolution, this cosy refuge is also an ideal place for children, since it is surrounded by meadows and is not too far from the bottom of the valley.
The view which can be enjoyed is magnificent: from Luseney to Becca di Nona which dominate Bionaz, to the majestic Grivola and as far as Ruitor (going up to the refuge).

How to get here by car

Aosta Est motorway exit. Follow the signs for theTraforo del Gran San Bernardo (Gran San Bernardo Tunnel)(green signs) which after a short distance take you to the mouth of the tunnel which links with strada statale (main road) 27. Straight after the tunnel exit go right at the junction following signs for Valpelline, Diga di Place Moulin (Place Moulin Dam).
Carry on along the regional road for a few Km until you reach the town of Valpelline. Go past the petrol station on the right (the last service station in the valley) carry on uphill until you reach the junction for Bionaz on the right, level with the hairpin bend. Having gone over the junction carry on along regional road 28 which first of all goes through the town of Oyace and, after a short distance uphill, you will reach the upland plain of Lexert with a lake of the same name.
Carry on and, before the town centre of Bionaz, on the left you will come across a deviation which takes you to the hamlet of Ruz where you can leave your car then travel for 2hrs on foot (trail sign 2). A different itinerary is possible, going past the town centre of Bionaz, and taking the narrow road, immediately on the right, for the hamlet of Chez Chenaux then travel for 2 hrs 30 mins on foot.
