Not all the huts accessible by cable car today can be considered true alpine refuges. The Rifugio Torino, however, stands out clearly, fully deserving this title due to its profound historical and mountaineering significance. It is situated near Colle del Gigante, an iconic spot frequented by mountaineers since the days of Horace-Bénédict de Saussure. Even today, it plays a fundamental strategic role, serving as a prime starting point for major ascents to Mont Blanc du Tacul, the Dente del Gigante, the Aiguille de Rochefort and the numerous peaks surrounding this extraordinary high-altitude landscape.
