Built in 1994, the Grand Tournalin Refuge is a characteristic three-storey building made of copper and stone, perfectly integrated into the alpine landscape.
Located at an altitude of 2,600 metres, in the grassy basin of the Alpe di Tournalin Superiore, it enjoys a panoramic and peaceful location, ideal for those who want to experience the mountains in all their authenticity.
The cosy, wood-furnished rooms offer a warm and familiar atmosphere. The large dining room can seat up to 80 people, while the kitchen offers traditional dishes from the Aosta Valley, prepared with genuine local ingredients.
The refuge is an excellent stop along the Alta Via n°1 trail in the Aosta Valley, a starting point for easy hikes or an ideal destination for a traditional lunch or an evening in the refuge with family or friends.
Open during the summer season, its easy access makes it particularly suitable for families and mountain bike enthusiasts.
How to get there:
on foot, in about 2 hours' walk from Saint-Jacques (1689 m) along trail no. 1 (Alta Via) towards Col di Nana.
Difficulty E excurtion route, with an elevation gain of about 840 m.

How to get here
By car
Verrès motorway exit: at the roundabout carry on towards Valle d'Ayas and after about one hundred metres, turn left. Carry on through the valley and go past the towns of Challand-Saint-Victor, Challand-Saint-Anselme, and Brusson and carry on towards Champoluc.
Having reached the roundabout of Champoluc carry straight on for several kilometres towards the hamlet of Saint-Jacques.
By public transport
The nearest train station is at Verrès.
Scheduled coach service as far as Ayas (approximately 9 trips a day) with connections to the local circle line which links the various hamlets.
