Description of the route

This green-blue lake is located at 2447 meters of altitude and can be reached by car. From Aosta follow state road 27 along the Great Saint Bernard Valley. After reaching the town of Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses take the road leading to Mount Great St.Bernard (open from June to October), ascending with hairpin bends amidst meadows and ravines. The lake can be seen after reaching Mount Great St. Bernard and is crossed by the Italian-Switzerland border. You will need an identification card or passport if you want to cross the border.
