Where to sleep: Doues

The holiday farm located at 1890m, stands among the greenery of the Aosta Valley mountains offering a splendid view of the city of Aosta and its surroundings, framed by the mountains of the ski resort of Pila, Mont Emilius and the Becca di Nona.
The agritourism offers a friendly atmosphere, comfortable rooms furnished in mountain style. All of them have an equipped kitchenette with fridge, TV so that you can choose if cook your own food or have meals by the restaurant where you can try specialities typical of regional gastronomy cooked with products from their farm.
This area offers a variety of hikes of all difficulties, easy access to mountain refuges and to the splendid valley of By that extends above the holiday farm.
It is accessible by car and it could be starting point for excursions the Great-Saint-Bernard Pass, Valpelline and the city of Aosta.

The Adolphe Letey Mountain Hut in Champillon is situated in the municipality of Doues, at an altitude of 2.465 m, above the Tza di Champillon mountain pasture, in a panoramic location overlooking the Ollomont valley and the Lower Valpelline. Opened on 3 July 2005, the refuge is named after Adolphe Letey, the village’s historic mayor and a driving force behind the area’s tourism development.

The refuge is a suitable destination for both experienced hikers and families with children, and is also an important stop along the Tour des Combins and the Alta Via 1 trail in the Aosta Valley.

The refuge serves traditional Aosta Valley cuisine using local, zero-kilometre produce, and is also known for its evenings dedicated to observing the Milky Way and the stars through a telescope, thanks to its secluded location and minimal artificial lighting.

How to get there in summer

On foot:

• from the hamlet of Plan Détruit -  Plan du Débat in Doues (2076 m). From here, take trail 8, which later joins the Alta Via 1 and Tour du Combin routes.

• from the hamlet of Prailles Dessous in Saint Oyen (1557 m). From the car park, follow the signs for Alta Via 1, passing through the Ponteille mountain pasture and Col Champillon (2707 m). From the pass, descend to the refuge.

• from the hamlet of Les Rey in Ollomont (1349 m), follow trail 2, then trail 8. The route is part of the Alta Via 1 and the Tour du Combin.

How to get there in winter/spring

Ski mountaineering: starting from the hamlet of Châtelair - Doues -  (1493 m), follow the summer route along the gentle slopes that characterise the Champillon basin.

La Maison Du Bon Megnadzo is located in Doues, in a quiet and welcoming area between the Great St Bernard Valley and the Valpelline and Bionaz village, about 9 km from Aosta.
Inside the structure there are 6 original and cosy rooms, furnished trying to recreate in each one the atmosphere of the Valdostan rural environments of the past: the stable, the barn, the oven.
A breakfast service with good Valle d'Aosta cuisine is offered.
The structure has two outdoor areas: one covered with table football and table tennis, the other with tables and chairs for quiet relaxation. There is also a large green area with a slide, swing and seesaw for the little ones. Outside the building there are two convenient parking spaces.
In the summer you can enjoy splendid landscape-naturalistic excursions, some of which are very easy to access even for children and the elderly. In winter, on the other hand, you can enjoy the tranquillity and, of course, the proximity of several ski resorts (downhill, cross-country, biathlon) located in the municipalities of Saint Rhémy en Bosses and Saint Oyen (Great St. Bernard Valley) and in the municipalities of Bionaz and Ollomont (Valpelline Valley).

The newly renovated guest house offers 6 double rooms, all with large ensuites and the option of adding a third bed. Four of the rooms are on the first floor and have an independent entrance. On the second floor there are two rooms with gallery; one of them is completely clad with wooden panels. Attention to detail is what the Le Relais de la Grandze guest house does best, thus ensuring a comfortable stay and a complete service for its customers. On the ground floor is a restaurant/bar, and on the second floor a relaxation area is located which includes hydro-massage, sauna and Turkish bath with chromotherapy (booking is required to both guests and non-guests).
