The "Walter Bonatti" refuge, which opened on 1st August 1998, is a typical construction in wood and stone. It faces a stirring view which embraces the entire mountain range: from Col Ferret to Col de la Seigne.
Inside there is a cosy dining room, furnished with characteristic wood furniture with original dried flower compositions, and in winter, heated by a large majolica stove.
The refuge can offer you different types of room: small rooms with two beds, six-bedded rooms and spacious dormitories. The rooms, which have beautiful views, take the name of the summit which they look out onto.
The kitchen offers traditional dishes and typical Valle d'Aosta wines. Weather permitting, the specialities can also be enjoyed in the open on the wooden tables which are on the meadowland in front of the refuge.
The W. Bonatti refuge, and other Valle d'Aosta refuges, are involved in the EEteam project, "Research - Intervention for the realization of environmental management systems for mountain refuges."

Courmayeur motorway exit. After the Courmayeur motorway exit carry on towards the Traforo del Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc Tunnel) for approximately 4 km going past the hamlet of Entrèves. On the last hairpin bend before the tunnel it is possible to exit the main road and go onto the road which leads to Val Ferret. Carry straight on for approximately 4 km.
After Lavachey on the right, before the hairpin bends, you will find a parking area set aside for the guests of the refuge. Carry on uphill along the hairpin bends and on the right, before the bridge, take the estate road and in approximately 1 hr on foot you will reach the refuge.

The nearest train station is in Aosta.
Scheduled Coach service as far as Courmayeur (approximately 15 trips a day).
Local line for Val Ferret (approximately 15 trips a day).
Can only be reached in summer.
