Parish Church of San Martino

Churches and shrines  -  Pontey

In the Papal Bull of Alexander III, dated 20th April 1176, the parish of Pontey appears as directly dependant on the Bishop of Aosta.
The building is rectangular in shape with a slightly raised square-shaped presbytery.
The current Parish Church was built in 1764, it was blessed during the same year and later consecrated. The bell tower was not rebuilt and may be attributed to the 15th century.

Valle d'Aosta in the nativity scene - mechanized exhibition.

Museums  -  Pontey

The exhibition displays the works of Serafino Servodidio, a carpenter from Pontey.
These are detailed miniature representations of the nativity scene and the peasant life of the past: the black bread supply chain, the fontina production chain, haymaking and the miniature reconstruction of Pontey.

The works are powered by 83 engines with 143 different mechanisms and 185 characters.

In the same location it is also possible to visit the photographic exhibition Tour of the millstones of Valmeriana which illustrates the discovery path of the geo-historical site where, in the past, millstones for mills were extracted and processed.

The museum is located in the multipurpose room of the Micro-community on the ground floor - west side.
