Ciclotour: Loop route among vineyards and castles in the lower Aosta Valley
Resorts: Pont-Saint-Martin, Bard, Issogne, Pont-Saint-Martin, Verrès
A road itinerary ideal for those who love cycling through history and rural landscapes, starting and ending in Pont-Saint-Martin. The route is mostly flat and crosses some of the most characteristic areas of the lower valley.
Description of the route
After passing the Roman bridge of Pont-Saint-Martin, you head towards Donnas, cycling through terraced vineyards and remnants of the Roman road. In Bard, the imposing Fort dominates the view, while in Arnad — home of the famous PDO lard — you pass near the ancient Echallod bridge. In Issogne, you can visit the castle before continuing through vineyards and villages to Montjovet, where the loop begins its return. A gently paced ride, perfect for a day of taste, culture and cycling.
