A magical cable car ride to discover Mont Blanc
An experience from earth to heaven
Skyway Monte Bianco is a technological and engineering marvel, a true Italian pride. It’s a journey that broadens horizons and crosses boundaries.
Born from a futuristic vision compared to previous cable cars, its goal is to create a 360° vertical ascent experience.
Thanks to the cable car, the climb from Courmayeur to Punta Helbronner (3,466 m) is an extraordinary experience accessible to all.
The Skyway cable car ride
Inaugurated in 2015, it includes 3 stations in glass and steel structures that that blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment: Courmayeur/The Valley (1,300 m), Pavillon/The Mountain (2,173 m) and Punta Helbronner/The Sky (3,466 m).
-
COURMAYEUR / The Valley (1,300 m)
TThe dream begins in Courmayeur, at 1,300 metres above sea level, with the ascent to the highest peak of the Alps.
At the first Skyway Monte Bianco station, you’ll find a bar for breakfast or a quick lunch, large parking areas (outdoor and covered), bus parking, luggage storage, and charging stations for electric cars. You can purchase your Skyway Monte Bianco ticket at the ticket counter or online.
- PAVILLON / The Mountain (2,173 m)
Ai the intermediate station, the mountain reveals its full beauty, with breathtaking views and unspoiled nature: here, a large terrace offers a 180° view of Mont Blanc and Val Veny.
Inside the Pavillon station, you’ll find dining options such as the Mountain Bar and Alpino Restaurant, as well as the Alpine Cinema (up to 150 seats) and the La Verticale hall (about 70 seats).
Here you can also try the virtual experience of the Mont Blanc Infinity Room.
Don’t miss the Cave Mont Blanc, which experiments with high-altitude winemaking, and Hangar 2173, located in the old station, where you can discover the history of cable cars and enjoy various temporary exhibitions.
During the summer you can visit the Botanical Garden with its 900 plant species from all over the world while kids have fun at the Playground Skyway for kids. The Marmot Den is also designed for children: it faithfully recreates the underground habitat so they can discover the secrets of this animal while having fun.
In winter, the snowshoeing area offers an unforgettable walk with snowshoes at the foot of Mont Blanc.
- PUNTA HELBRONNER / The Sky (3,466 m)
It’s the lowest point of the sky, but also the highest point in Italy, at 3,466 metres above sea level.
Once you reach the third Skyway Monte Bianco station, from the circular terrace “360° Observatory” you’ll feel like you can touch the surrounding mountains. The view stretches across the “four-thousanders” of the Western Alps: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, the Gran Paradiso and the Grand Combin.
Inside, La Feltrinelli, Europe’s highest bookshop, welcomes readers and curious travellers; the Crystal Room displays the jewels of these mountains; the Monte Bianco Room offers a fantastic view even on cold, windy days; Sky Vertigo gives the sensation of walking in the void and the Panoramic Bistrot invites you to enjoy authentic Aosta Valley flavours at high altitude.
For expert skiers, Punta Helbronner is the starting point of the legendary Vallée Blanche off-piste route, which crosses the heart of the Mont Blanc massif. Over 20 kilometres of descent among glaciers, seracs, and unique landscapes, always accompanied by a mountain guide, ending in Chamonix, France.

The cable car will be closed for maintenance from October 14th to December 12th, 2025.
