Cortese Distillery

Generation after generation, the family, who have owned the distillery since the early 1900s, have safeguarded the quality of their limited production, refusing to distribute it outside the borders of the Aosta Valley.
For over 100 years, Distilleria Cortese’s delicate grappas and fruity-flavoured liqueurs have been produced according to ancient recipes that continue to convey a unique flavour.
The flagship of the company is the production of different qualities of génépy, in particular the Artemisia génépy, obtained by infusing in alcohol only the flowers of the little génépy plant, which has marvellous properties and grows wild on the moraines of the glaciers in Valle d’Aosta at an altitude of over 2.000 metres and the Bitter Cervino, made from local herbs and delicately bitter.

The visit

Free guided tours round the distillery can be arranged for groups upon phone reservation, during which you can observe the various production phases up to the bottling process, with a final tasting session.

How to get there

Travelling from the A5 motorway, take the Châtillon / Saint - Vincent exit. At the first crossroads, turn right and follow the signs for Saint-Vincent. When you reach the town centre, at the end of Via Roma take Viale IV Novembe, in the direction of Terme and Col de Joux. The distillery will be found shortly after, on the left.
