Espace San Bernardo ski area (La Thuile-La Rosière)
La Thuile (1441 m) is a small village located in a large basin above which rises the Rutor glacier, on the cross-border road of the Little St. Bernard Pass. Its ski area, the Espace San Bernardo is one of the largest ski areas in the Aosta Valley thanks to its “skis-on” link to the La Rosière resort over the border in France, offering lots of km of runs served by 38 lift facilities.
It is thus possible to ski on two sides of the Alps, up to the 2.800 m. altitude with the new chairlifts Mont Valaisan and Moulin on the French side with a unique skipass.
The ski area can be reached from the centre of the village thanks to the cableway or the Bosco Express chairlift.
This ski area offers extraordinary variety, ranging from children’s runs and play areas to slopes running through magnificent landscape for those who enjoy admiring the view as they ski, and of course the legendary Franco Berthod n°3 slope, and has a maximum gradient of 73% .
The slope, only for experts, reaches La Thuile after 4 km of descent. In the recent past, the scenic and challenging track has been the venue for several World Cup races and in 2020 and, on February 29th and March 1st, it will once again be the stage of two Women’s World Cup competitions: a Super Giant and a Super Combined.
