If you are a well-trained hiker and you love trekking in nature you can walk all over the Aosta Valley on foot, following a circular itinerary that will make you discover, one by one, all the lateral valleys of the region.

The Alta Via n.1 and the Alta Via n. 2 are multi-day treks that allow you to experience an exciting adventure among the highest peaks of the Alps, along paths that wind at the foot of Mont Blanc (4810 m), Gran Paradiso (4061 m), Monte Rosa (4634 m) and Matterhorn (4478 m).

At high altitude you can stay in cozy mountain huts or unattended bivouacs but, after each pass you will reach the valley floor where you will find tourist resorts with various services and multiple accommodation facilities (hotels, bed and breakfast, campsites...).

The circular route that includes both the Alte Vie trails is also known as the "Tour of the Giants" and allows you to immerse yourself in environments and natural landscapes very different from each other, from high altitude glaciers to the vineyards of the valley, from the views of the Gran Paradiso national park to the alpine lakes of the Mont Avic natural park.

Along this route, with some variations, takes place every year in September the Tor des Géants®, an epic endurance-trail race (in terms of altitude gain and kilometers) that combines the long distance to the semi-self-sufficiency of the participants.
