The route crosses the valleys of Gressoney, Ayas and Valtournenche and several Walser settlements in sight of Monte Rosa. 

The Matterhorn is at the heart of this circuit between Italy and Switzerland.

Goes through the Great St. Bernard Pass between Switzerland and Italy, known for breeding the legendary dogs by the same name.

Goes by four large reservoirs between the Aosta Valley and the Canton of Valais.
