This place is particularly interesting. A small lake has formed opposite the glacier, closed off by its right moraine.
From its edges you can see the movements of the glacier, with blocks of ice occasionally falling into the water forming small icebergs.
Not far from the lake you can see the remains of fortifications from the 18th century, reminders of the invasions by French troops from Col de la Seigne.
Description of the route
When you get to La Visaille, in Val Veny in the municipality of Courmayeur, take the paved road, which then becomes a dirt track (route 12) and leads to the Elisabetta refuge. Keep on the orographic left side and when you get to the bridge of the Dora, stay on the same side, taking route 18A which leads to Bar Combal. Veer right and after a few metres, follow the trail that goes up to the crest of the moraine on the bank of Lac Miage.
