An itinerary that traces the footsteps of a border civilisation
The Great Walser Trail is a trail ok 80 Km that goes across Valtournenche, Val d'Ayas and Gressoney valley.
The main feature of this trail is the Walser people themselves: embarking on this walk in fact means following in the footsteps of a population that colonised these lands, beginning from the 12th century, making a significant contribution to shapingthe landscapes.
A series of interpretative panels will help you to recognize and rebuild the signs of the culture that is encountered within this territory. The walk ideally combines the Walser culture centres, travelling in the most wide-ranging world of Alpine culture and representing an effective idea of what the mountains were during past centuries with what it means to inhabit them, often at impassable temperatures.
